What a year! 2020 is a year that we will never forget. From a global pandemic to the social unrest, we can all say that it’s been an emotional roller coaster of a year.  We all started the year with high hopes for that 20/20 vision, I coined the year Envision2020.

I had major speaking events booked and I had plans for making this the breakout year for HerSuiteSpot.  I went from Envision2020 to the year of both Pain and Joy. Throughout the year my emotions ebbed and flowed, I went from deep sadness, fervent prayers to pure bliss.

I’m so grateful to God for getting me through to see a new year emerge and for all the joy he’s given me despite so much pain. Here are my top 5 moments of 2020:

1 – I raised over $25,000 for my non-profit, the Yva Jourdan Foundation for the HerRise Fund. We gave away over $20,000 in grant relief to women of color small business owners that were impacted by COVID-19.

2- I joined several organizations that share my vision and passion for an inclusive and diverse entrepreneurial ecosystem, Females & Finaces, The Female Founders Collective, C-Suite Network and my favorite Arlan Hamilton’s Mastermind.

3- I hosted my first 2 day virtual event, the HerRise Conference. I was thrilled to have some amazing leaders join me for this virtual experience including, Kristy Wallace the CEO of Ellevate Network, Arlan Hamilton the Found of Backstage Capital, Cheryl Nash the CEO of Tegra118 just to name a few.

4- I presented a TEDx Talk at this year’s TEDxDeerPark Women. This is a goal that I could not have imaged would be accomplished this year, but God!

5- I became a homeschool mom to my precious son Joshua! That was THE most challenging thing that has happened for me this year but I’m thankful that I survived with the help of the teachers, friends and family.

This may not have been the most perfect year as we envisioned but the lessons we learned has shaped so many of us! We are dreaming bigger, loving harder and getting closer to the true perfect vision for life. I look forward to supporting you all in 2021 and watching all your dreams come true!
