Yes you’ve had your share of mistakes.
No one is perfect; in fact, it is the failures that makes your path more impactful.
People are inspired by leaders who are human just like them.
Yes you’ve could’ve chosen better and yes, you knew better.
Those are merely confirmations and reminders, we all need them from time to time.
Yes you should’ve said yes when you said no and yes you should’ve said no when you said yes.
That’s called emotions and mastering the art of trusting yourself the first time around, you’ll get there!
But all in all, you’re still here. You’re still striving and you’re still trying to make the best of what you’ve got. Sure, life doesn’t give anyone a perfect golden road to possibilities. Possibilities sometimes are breaded in the dark spaces, places and seasons in our lives. You’re not alone if you’re childhood was far from perfect and troubled you.
Truth is according to psychologists, 85% of families are dysfunctional, welcome to humanity.
Despite all of the odds that seem stacked up against you, you continue to muster up the courage to face adversity and show up in life the best way you know how to and for that, all hats off to you and congratulations are due your way!
Life is a mystery we uncover it moment by moment. And the lessons are ever present whether we welcome them or not. Lessons will keep coming and will continue to until we take our last breath. That is part of the transformative life we are meant to live.
You either evolve or evaporate.
So if you find yourself in a pity party beating yourself up for eating the cookie, over sleeping the alarm, ending the relationship 3 years late, spending instead of saving, watching the extra late night show or merely doing too much for others and not enough for yourself; relax.
And yes, stop.
Give yourself credit
Give yourself the credit in knowing that you at least are aware of the choice or and you can make a better choice next time.
Give yourself credit for just eating the extra cookie and not the entire row of cookies.
Give yourself credit that you got up out the bed and didn’t stay there.
Give yourself credit that you finally showed up honest and authentic to finally be truthful to those you are in relationship with.
Give yourself credit for knowing what’s best financially next time.
Give yourself credit for watching the extra show instead of binging watch the entire day or night away.
Give yourself credit that you can identify the importance of caring for yourself and when you need support; just as you gave it out, it will come back to you when you need it most.
Rid Yourself of Self-Sabotage
Beating yourself, living in shame and guilt serves you no good. Yes, conviction is important to help us be aware to choose better for next time. Condemnation on the other hand, keeps us stuck in the past, which is something we can never control or change. As a result, condemnation perpetuates shame, guilt and helplessness that does not empower us to choose differently.
Instead, we keep choosing again and again what we have filled our minds with.
We are what we think and our lives are shaped by our thoughts.
