Maternal Intelligence Technologies was created to address a critical issue facing women across the country: fragmented maternal healthcare. The consequences of these gaps can be devastating. Black mothers continue to face significantly higher maternal mortality rates than their counterparts, often due to missed warning signs, lack of coordinated care, and barriers to effective communication within the healthcare system.
For Imani, this mission is deeply personal. After experiencing a maternal health emergency herself, she became determined to help ensure other mothers have the tools, information, and support they need to advocate for their care before a crisis occurs.
Maternal Intelligence Technologies combines innovation and advocacy through AI-powered risk detection tools, clinical resources, and connected healthcare records that help bridge communication gaps between providers. Their goal is simple but powerful: save lives by helping mothers receive timely, coordinated, and informed care.
The HerRise MicroGrant will help Imani expand her impact through several important initiatives. The funding will support the distribution of 300 “I Gave Birth” emergency alert bracelets, wearable tools that help healthcare professionals quickly identify postpartum patients in emergency situations. The grant will also fund 250 Maternal Health Passports, empowering mothers to track and communicate critical health information throughout their maternal care journey.
These resources will be distributed through established partnerships with Jefferson Health and the Montgomery County Department of Health, extending their reach directly into communities where they are needed most. Additional funding will support the expansion of Maternal Intelligence Technologies’ doula network and the creation of educational materials that further their mission of maternal health advocacy.
Imani’s work represents exactly why the HerRise MicroGrant exists. Women entrepreneurs are creating innovative solutions to some of society’s most pressing challenges, yet they often face barriers when accessing the capital needed to grow.
