To accomplish anything in life, you have to first have a clear intention on what you want. If you are a fan of vision boards, then you should start creating your vision board for the new year. If you prefer to write your goals in a checklist, then write them out with specificity and details. If you are a follower of the law of attraction, you know that the universe can’t deliver on a moving target. 2020 is the perfect time to get really clear, specific, and focused with each and every goal you intend to achieve in the new year.
#2 Say Yes
We spend too much time saying no before we even imagine how to say yes to ourselves or our dreams. When a new opportunity presents itself, do yourself a favor and answer the following questions:
- Do I fully understand the opportunity?
- Do I need more information about the opportunity?
- Is the opportunity something I want?
- Why is this an opportunity you desire?
- What do you need to do to make the opportunity happen?
- Are there any obstacles associated with this opportunity?
- What resources are available to help make the opportunity happen?
#3 Stop the Excuses
Human beings have an incredible way rationalizing anything that “makes sense” at the time. Whether the logic is real or fictional, people will find a way to stand in their own way with unnecessary excuses. Are you ready to make 2020 the year you STOP using excuses? If so, here is a short affirmation you can say to yourself every time you have the feeling to go back to old habits:
I am capable
I am brilliant
I am strong enough to keep moving forward
If I want ____________ (fill in the blank)
I owe it to myself to make ____________ (fill in the blank) this happen NO MATTER WHAT
#4 Guard Your Time
Time is the most valuable asset you have in your life. Every day you wake you are BLESSED. It is up to you to be grateful to be alive and be ready to act to make your dreams come true. When people try to steal your time or waste it, you have to say NO. Otherwise, you risk losing time to people and activities not furthering your personal or professional goals.
#5 Embrace the Unknown
Life is filled with the unexpected. This might seem scary or settling but it isn’t. This is the reality of being alive. The unknown isn’t something to fear but to embrace. The unknown will force you to expand your comfort zone which in turn will force you to level up in ways you couldn’t imagine.
