3 Reasons Why Social Media is Important for Your Business

If you follow HerSuiteSpot or if you just getting to know us, you know that there are 4 pillars of business that I believe are necessary for your career or business, Mindset, Money, Marketing and Media. Today let’s talk about Social Media and you why I think it’s important for your business. But, what is media and how can it be used to grow a business? Why should you, as a business owner even care about having media for your brand? Will not having media cause a business to fall off? In this article, I want to share 3 reasons why I believe social media is important for the success of your business.

1. Amount of Time People Spend Online

It’s no big secret that these days, people are spending more and more time online. But, to add to that, people are spending most of their time consuming media while online. Most social media sites even have pages of their site that are strictly dedicated to creating a library of media for users to browse through. So, although, you may have a seemingly large group of followers for those long paragraph posts and even though your blog posts seem to get a significant amount of reviews, it’s still safe to say that you haven’t even come close to getting your market share if you don’t have video and/or audio to go with it.

2. People Have Short Attention Spans

Although we’d like to think that people will read every single word of any long post we make online, the truth is, studies show that the attention span of most people have gradually gone down with time. It might even be safe to say that a marketer only has about 10 seconds or less to grab someone’s attention. With that being said, it’s also arguable that video and audio are the best way to really capture an audience’s attention. In fact, there are studies that show a trend in companies doing more advertising on YouTube than on Facebook.

3. Distribution Possibilities

Another reason it’s a great idea to utilize media for your business, is because of the many distribution channels for media out there. Even before the internet was a thing businesses were utilizing audio and video to produce commercials as a way to attract potential customers. These days, more than ever, many entrepreneurs and businesses are using live video streams and pre-recorded audio for podcasting. As business owners, we have to continually refine the way we do business and the continued trend of the average person’s attention span lessening more and more with time is something we most definitely have to be privy to.

With the amount of time people are spending online in addition to people’s attention spans decreasing more and more with time, you are doing your business a great disservice by not utilizing media to attract customers and clients. Not to mention the distribution potential that comes with having ready-to-go audio and video files to market your brand. These days it’s nearly a lifeline to have quality media for your brand.
